Applimation to add Clearpace's archive store in Informia Archive system

CBR Staff Writer Published 04 February 2009

The new archive store is expected to provide long term information retention and retrieval capabilities.

Applimation, a provider of enterprise data management services, plans to add archive store technology from the UK-based software company Clearpace Software in its Applimation Informia Archive system.

This original equipment manufacturer (OEM) agreement and strategic partnership is expected to enable Applimation to deliver the complete service for the long-term retention of structured data to its customers.

This agreement extends Applimation's application data management capabilities, enabling organizations to move historical data from production databases into compressed, secure and accessible archive stores which are fully accessible through standard SQL technologies.

The new archive store from Clearpace is expected to provide long-term information retention and retrieval capabilities that surpass alternative data repositories and XML. Using Clearpace NParchive, Applimation customers will be able to reduce the cost and complexity of storing and managing historical information.

Bob Markese, CEO of Applimation, said: In this climate where IT budgets are also under pressure, it's critical that we provide our customers with the ability to retain archived data economically while also supporting their accessibility and security requirements.  When we investigated the options for providing our customers with the optimal archive store, Clearpace's NParchive clearly stood out as the best-in-class solution to meet the needs of our customers.

John Bantleman, CEO of Clearpace, said: Clearpace is focused on information preservation, and our latest OEM agreement with Applimation is proof that specialized archive repositories are becoming an increasingly important component of the application archiving and sunsetting process.
